“Hey, I’m Kate Malone and we are sitting in our brand new studio, Dual Nature Music in East Nashville. My favorite part of the studio is actually the most difficult part to acoustically treat, which is the high ceilings. But I knew when we were in the design phase for this building that it needed to be a building that I could physically work in and I needed a lot of light. You know, most studios are very dark. So, since we were doing a smaller space, we had the flexibility to really install a lot of windows, which has been great cuz I spend a lot of long, long days out here. And if I can at least see sunlight from the outside, it works for me. It makes me, you know, a sane person. So, that’s my favorite part is just the general structure of the building and the and the shape that we were able to come up with.”
“When you’re writing a song or when you’re recording music, a lot of times people need a bathroom break as also a mental break. And so the bathroom really needs to be inspiring. One of the special things about this building is it’s very cozy. You know, I wanted it to be a creative space where people felt very comfortable, you know, singing, recording, writing music. People do their best work when they’re in, I think, a space that’s visually inspiring and a space that people feel just very comfortable being in.
