“I think it’s hard to find contractors that can do this sort of middle ground where you’re building a creative space, but also, you know, when we sell this property, this doesn’t have to be a studio. This could be a long-term rental. This could be an Airbnb.”
“We knew that we were going to have a lot of kind of specific asks for this building. We were looking for somebody who was going to give us a really specific itemized quote because, you know, certain things like interior doors is a great example. You know, you can spend $3,000 on a soundproof studio door. Some people choose to do that. They decide that that is important. The choice that we made is we just got some really like some higher quality solid core wood doors cuz we felt like that was probably going to get us pretty close. And we did some other things like installing like sweeps around the edge. We were trying to hit that middle ground of not overinvesting but not underinvesting. And so the quoting process with building company number seven was great because the quote came to us and everything was broken down into really small categories. There was also, you know, graphs, timelines of when the biggest expenses were going to, you know, we were going to incur those.”
“So, I felt very comfortable with the financial part of it, you know, moving forward, especially knowing that there were some things that we were going to ask for like extra, you know, cocking around the outlets and all that stuff that where we padded certain categories saying we were going to spend a little more on electrical. We’re going to have a lot of outlets. We’re gonna have low voltage wiring run through the walls and we’re going to need them to be there for maybe like an extra day to just get everything, you know, up to our standards, which are a little bit more elevated than just regular, you know, regular residential standards.”
